Tietoevry India and Swedish Companies Support Women through ‘Access Point – Bengaluru’ Laptop Distribution Program
Published: 09 April 2025
On March 20, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce organized the ‘Access Point – Bengaluru’ laptop distribution program in collaboration with other Swedish companies based in Bengaluru. This initiative, part of the Kraftsamla project, provided laptops to over 175 women from low-income families. Tietoevry and other Swedish companies extended CSR grants to support the program, which was held in four cities, including Pune and Bengaluru.
The program was hosted by Epiroc Mining India Private Limited at Manyata Embassy Business Park, Bengaluru, due to the inability to host the event at Tietoevry's Bengaluru office, as restrictions prevented us from bringing laptops onto the premises for distribution.
At the Bengaluru event, nearly 40 women beneficiaries from Karnataka and neighboring states like Kerala were present to receive the laptops after all the necessary due diligence was completed. The student beneficiaries were carefully selected by SCCI based on criteria such as family income, academic performance, and other factors. They came from various fields of study, including Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, Humanities, and more. College representatives accompanied the students. Volunteers also provided a brief introduction to basic laptop operations, as some of the recipients were using a laptop for the first time.
The program was led by Sara Larsson, CEO of SCCI, Matilda Skog, and other SCCI members, along with representatives from seven Swedish companies, including Tietoevry, IKEA, Epiroc, H&M, and others. Our host, Epiroc, extended warm hospitality to all guests, students, and company representatives by providing access to multiple meeting rooms, breakout areas, gifts for all students, as well as breakfast and lunch.
During the event, Sharanayya Kantikar, Head of Telecom India at Tietoevry Create, addressed the audience, emphasizing that equality is not just about maintaining ratios but about ensuring equal access and opportunities for everyone. Souvik Mukherjee, Mala Chandrashekar, and Varsha Patil from Tietoevry also participated in the program, extending their support alongside other Swedish companies and the SCCI.
Through SCCI’s Kraftsamla initiative, Tietoevry India reaffirms its commitment to gender equality and social transformation, working toward building an inclusive society. By partnering with Kraftsamla, Tietoevry India is helping shape a more equitable future, empowering women, bridging gender gaps, and fostering diversity and inclusion.
A special thanks to Sharanayya Kantikar, Mala Chandrashekar, and Varsha Patil for your time and for supporting SCCI in driving the Bengaluru edition of this program. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
