Implementation and go-live in just eight months

Tietoevry Create

Purposeful digital tech for businesses

The challenge

WEIG Group, a leading German company in the paper and packaging industry, faced the challenge of replacing its existing TIPS Sales system. The key objective was to: integrate SAP S/4HANA to optimize the company’s operational processes.

WEIG’s IT landscape includes multiple systems, such as various established TIPS modules, Seeburger middleware, the freight platform Transporeon, the plant logistics solution PAARI, and a customer portal based on SAP Fiori. The complex production processes surrounding the KM6 board machine are now additionally harmonized and fully integrated into SAP.

The core challenge of the project was to integrate SAP SD and SAP TM into this complex landscape, while minimizing disruptions during the transition process.

The solution

Tietoevry was selected as a partner after a successful proof-of-concept project that demonstrated the potential of the SAP S/4HANA solution. The implementation began in June 2024, led by a team of 25 Tietoevry experts. The go-live took place just eight months later, in January 2025. Despite the tight timeline, the project involved intensive technical integration and process optimization across multiple technologies. The Tietoevry team impressed WEIG with its in-depth SAP expertise and knowledge of the specific paper industry requirements, while also ensuring that the project was completed on schedule.

Technologies Used:

  • SAP S/4HANA for central enterprise resource planning
  • TIPS for supply chain management integration
  • Seeburger middleware for data exchange
  • Transporeon for transport management
  • PAARI for specific logistics tasks
  • SAP Fiori based on BTP for the customer portal

The integration of SAP S/4HANA enabled real-time data exchange and optimized processes across the entire value chain. The new solution offers integrated systems and automated workflows – providing a stable foundation for future innovation. WEIG Group now benefits from a more scalable system that supports the company’s growing demands.
