The challenge

ASFINAG’s incident managers are responsible for ensuring safety on Austrian roads every day. To make their work more efficient, the company wanted to provide its employees with a modern app for tablets and smartphones that would provide optimal support for alerting, coordination, and documentation. With a new app, the company needed to achieve the following:

  • Seamlessly integrate the new app with its systems.
  • A focus had to be made on accessibility & ensure that the app complies with the requirements of the Federal Disability Equality Act.
  • Other challenges included connecting multiple interfaces and gradually expanding app functionality.

The solution

With the road incident management app, ASFINAG, together with its partners Tietoevry and moPS GmbH, implemented a forward-looking product tailored to ASFINAG’s specific needs.

The mobile application provides incident managers with access to relevant real-time data anytime and anywhere. They can get an up-to-date overview of the situation and recommendations for action. Functions such as alerting, coordination, and cross-organizational communication are seamlessly integrated.

Key success factors of the project:

  • Consistent data availability via integration with ASFINAG systems.
  • Gradual feature expansion and replacement of the legacy solutions.
  • Dynamic project model – clearly defined release cycles ensure continuous development with maximum business value.

The application helps to generate automated incident documentation and is available on tablets and smartphones, helping incident managers improve their efficiency and response speed.
