For ASFINAG, the replacement of its legacy SAP R/3 system with a future-proof ERP system was a key priority. The goal was to enable centralized, efficient, and flexible data processing that favors improved decision-making. ASFINAG aimed to take full advantage of new technological leaps to optimize its processes and strengthen data integrity. Facing the complex, specific requirements in the areas of finance/controlling, logistics, maintenance, and HR, a carefully coordinated transition was necessary that would minimize business interruptions while maximizing transparency and performance.
A particular challenge was that a large number of non-modular, custom-tailored solutions had to be migrated, and ASFINAG-specific processes had to be mapped in the new setup. In addition, ASFINAG's SAP system served as a master data holder for many peripheral systems, which therefore had to be included in the planning. In addition, updates for the old system had to be continuously put into production in the course of the project, partly due to legal requirements and this aspect also had to be taken into account during the migration. In addition, several interfaces to internal and external customer systems had to be addressed for the successful switchover.
Together with ASFINAG’s team, Tietoevry carried out a seamless migration from the legacy SAP system – a project that required top technical expertise and an in-depth understanding of relevant processes. By applying a tailor-made approach, we could fully map ASFINAG's specific requirements in finance/controlling, logistics, maintenance, and HR. Project management and test management were carried out with the utmost accuracy and planning. Innovative processes were also introduced, supplemented by state-of-the-art developments in SAP ABAP and SAP Fiori systems. Tietoevry's extensive experience with the SAP platform ensured a smooth go-live, complemented by a short and efficient hypercare phase to support ASFINAG on its path to digital excellence.
