A global Network Equipment Provider needed a solution to improve the efficiency of software development and maintenance of Radio Unit products. Our Open RAN experts stepped in.
Vice President, Telecom Industry Business
The 5G transformation and increasing device connectivity introduce new 5G radio frequency bands, antenna types and varying physical radio unit packages. This leads to an increasing number of needed Radio Unit products. The global Network Equipment Provider wanted to ensure faster time-to-market and efficient software maintenance for the Radio Unit portfolio.
We helped the company to define the modular software architecture, supporting software development and maintenance for their portfolio of Radio Unit products. The SW architecture for Open Radio Access Network (Open RAN) Radio Unit is based on a service-oriented approach de-coupling SW modules as far as possible. Our team also delivered software development of the modules that were generic to all Radio Unit products, as well as some product-specific development work.
Open RAN and Virtual RAN development servicesA global network equipment provider (NEP), who is extending its Open RAN portfolio. Our software development contribution helped them to capture more market shares in the growing Open RAN market.
The modular solution enables a high degree of re-use when developing new radio unit products. The architectural framework also supports product specific needs.
Swapping modules or model-driven interfaces towards the RAN/OSS, enable integrations in multi-vendor environments with high value for Open RAN products.
A service-based architecture framework and reusable modules guide software development and improve software quality.
Our experienced Open RAN software development team defined the overall software architecture which supports the development of new radio unit products. The solution was modular and based on service-oriented architecture enabling a high degree of re-use. Later, the team extended their responsibilities to software module development. We had also roles in project management, program coordination and test coordination.
