Tietoevry Banking, a leading provider of modular software solutions for financial institutions, is joining the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN). This move is a key part of Tietoevry Banking’s international expansion agenda and ambition to modernize the banking industry through the adoption of global standards and multi-vendor collaborations.
With a focus on expanding its presence across Europe and other global markets, Tietoevry Banking has joined BIAN, an independent not-for-profit standards association. This decision aligns with Tietoevry Banking's strategy to offer best-of-breed, modular services tailored to evolving customer needs, regulatory demands, and open banking opportunities. It also allows Tietoevry Banking to participate in BIAN’s various working groups focused on payments, transaction banking, and lending, offering a valuable opportunity to influence the future standards and open new avenues for collaboration with other industry leaders.
“We are delighted to be a part of the BIAN community. We believe that the banking industry’s modernization journey is about integrating software capabilities around ecosystems that deliver real value to the end customer. Open Banking, Embedded Finance, and Banking as a Platform are key examples where multiple vendors, banks, and non-financial institutions collaborate to embed financial products into the customer experience. Over the years BIAN has transformed to become a true standard for integrating software components enabling the creation of new business models. BIAN provides a platform for banks to work with leading software vendors to develop future-proof, regulatory-compliant, and universally compatible banking services. This creates a fantastic framework for Tietoevry Banking’s API-based, modular services to integrate with other relevant industry players,” says Jon Bremnes, CIO at Tietoevry Banking.
Hans Tesselaar, Executive Director of BIAN, commented on Tietoevry Banking’s joining the network: “We at BIAN are excited to welcome Tietoevry Banking as a member. As a key player in the Nordic banking solutions space, Tietoevry Banking has proven its commitment to the BIAN standard over the years, and we are sure that they will continue on this path.”
Tietoevry Banking’s membership in BIAN is also part of its strategy to position the unit as a leading provider of software solutions in Europe. By engaging with BIAN, Tietoevry Banking will ensure that its products and services remain at the forefront of industry developments, offering customers across the globe secure, compliant, and future-ready banking experiences.

About BIAN
Established in 2008, the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) is an independent, member-owned, not-for-profit association, designed to build and promote a common architectural framework for banking interoperability issues. BIAN’s goal is to define operability and semantic definitions for IT services in the banking industry.
The community of over 100 members focuses on creating a standard banking services landscape, while ensuring consistent service definitions, levels of detail, and boundaries. This will help banks to achieve a reduction of integration costs and take advantage of a microservices architecture.
Financial institutions, software vendors, and system integrators, along with technology partners and consultancies, are invited to join the association and play a collaborative role with other industry leaders in defining, building, and implementing next-generation banking platforms.
