Siemens, Seitatech, and Tietoevry Banking unveil groundbreaking payment solution for EV charging

Seamless payment experience for electric vehicle (EV) drivers using credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, and wearables.

17 September 2024

Siemens, Seitatech, and Tietoevry Banking have joined forces to launch a revolutionary payment solution set to transform electric vehicle charging across Norway, the Nordics, Baltics, and the EU. Designed for high efficiency charging and an exceptionally simple user experience, this innovative offering marks a significant step forward in the adoption of electric mobility.

The collaboration brings together Siemens' sustainable charging infrastructure, Tietoevry Banking's secure transaction processing expertise, and Seitatech's proficiency in payment terminal solutions. The result is a flexible, user-friendly, and efficient payment system that simplifies the EV charging process for both CPO's and drivers.

Charge point operators can seamlessly integrate the new solution with their existing acquiring bank agreements, providing them the freedom to choose from multiple acquiring banks. This flexibility ensures a smooth transition and adaptability to individual business needs.

For electric vehicle drivers, the charging experience has never been more convenient. Users can effortlessly pay by using credit/debit cards (contactless, magnetic stripe, chip or PIN pad), Apple Pay, Google Pay, smartwatches, and other wearables. The hassle of complicated app registrations and passwords is eliminated, making the process as intuitive as fueling up at a traditional gas station.

The payment solution is complemented by Siemens' high-efficiency Sicharge D DC charger, available with or without a dispenser, offering power output ranging from 180kW to 400kW. This enables quick and efficient charging, further enhancing the user experience.

"This groundbreaking payment solution represents a major leap forward in simplifying the electric vehicle charging experience," said Lars Tveitan Østvold, Sales Manager, Siemens Smart Infrastructure E-Mobility. "By enabling seamless payments through credit cards, mobile wallets, and wearables, we are removing barriers and making EV charging as intuitive as fueling up at a gas station. Siemens is thrilled to collaborate with Seitatech and Tietoevry Banking to deliver a secure, scalable, and user-friendly solution that will accelerate the adoption of electric mobility across Europe".

The tripartite collaboration leverages the unique strengths of each partner. Siemens provides the foundation with its sustainable charging infrastructure, Tietoevry Banking ensures secure transaction processing, and Seitatech contributes its expertise in payment terminal solutions. Together, they have created a comprehensive offering that addresses the needs of both Charging Point Operators and electric vehicle drivers.

As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, this innovative payment solution is poised to play a crucial role in the widespread adoption of electric mobility. By simplifying the charging process and providing flexibility for operators, Siemens, Seitatech, and Tietoevry Banking are paving the way for a more sustainable and accessible future of transportation.
