Discover how Alekss develops AI agents with Copilot Studio, using low code in Microsoft Power Platform to enhance productivity and innovation.

Developing AI agents with Copilot Studio one chess move at a time

Alekss and his team have developed AI agents that deliver great value for both them and their clients. Be it AI agents in Copilot Studio, chess, or running - constant development gives him the kick.

Alekss Ļevšunovs and his colleagues finalized a Copilot Studio project just weeks ago, where they have developed several AI agents. The process has been exciting, and the results are already very promising.

— We recently presented two different AI agents with our global team, one for internal and one for customer use. The first is an SDD/FDD (Solution and Functional Design Document) generator, helping with documentation of projects. The user just needs to answer a few basic questions, and then the agent will develop the solution and functional design documents for you, saving lots of time and sparing us of a rather tedious task.

The AI agent the team has developed for client use saves time and money – not to mention the environment.

— We developed an AI agent that works as a storage optimizer for Microsoft Dynamics 365. Most companies have everything from duplicates to old files no longer in use just taking up space and wasting energy. Our agent recommends what to do to optimize the storage, provides all the necessary instructions and documents the whole process – saving both time and money for our clients.

The results of this team effort have been so promising that several other agents are in the making. One of them will be tailored to the forest, metal and manufacturing industries, helping several clients on those industries.

Microsoft low-code platforms offer a wide range of capabilities

Alekss and his team have been using the Microsoft Power Platform, which is a low-code solution.

The beauty is that you don’t need extensive development expertise to use this solution. Even though I studied a bit of development at university, I’m not an expert, and yet I can be instrumental in the development of AI Agents. If I can do it, so can anyone, meaning we can have a multitude of interesting solutions in the near future.

Alekss has developed a solution that helps answer questions based on all the information in various Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications.

— All info in there, from supply chain to finance via Power BI, is accessible to the AI Agent we’ve developed. It saves us bundles of time searching for relevant information – time I can spend on delivering more value to our clients.

A varied background has led to a varied job with wider perspective

Much thanks to his varied background, Alekss has a varied job he thrives in. Developing AI agents isn’t the only thing he’s involved in.

— I work on everything from customer requests to tenders, sales bids and certain marketing efforts. I also work with internal Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation and sales documentation. I also manage our partnerships with independent software vendors, so called ISV partnerships, who deliver solutions that go on top of MS Dynamics.

Being exposed to a varied job is natural given his background.

— My degree covered everything from development and database design to online ethics and Photoshop, Blender, as well as transhumanism – the latter very relevant given the recent developments within AI. It shows that there is more than one way into the IT industry – mine isn’t necessarily the most natural one.

It’s clear that Alekss likes to delve into different tasks and challenges, and at this company he can do just that.

— It’s great to work at a place where you’re allowed to explore different solutions and technologies. That means I learn that much more. We’re encouraged to take responsibility, which suits me very well.

Variety also comes in the form of clients that not only represent different industries but also geographies. Alekss is based in Latvia, Riga and his international team works on global cases with colleagues across Europe.

Overcoming challenges at work, and on freetime

Employees who have a broad array of interests outside work are cherished working with us, and Alekss has no lack of hobbies himself. They are mostly centred around sports. He has ran a marathon and plays chess on Class B level.

— I am a big sports fan and have played both volleyball and the somewhat unknown sport spikeball in addition to chess, bouldering, rock climbing and dancing. I also play D&D with some friends – so yes, I have a nerdy side to me.

Alekss can also be found in the gym working out and helping others work out.

— I’ve been going to the gym regularly for the past 15 years and I  am now a certified personal trainer.

To Alekss, being in good shape is a great way to tackle the many interesting challenges he faces at work.
