ECCo SP (European Common Coordination System for System Protection) is the infrastructure to support the Nordic transmission system operators (TSOs) support services.
Tietoevry offers the ECCo SP infrastructure, which consists of the software solution ECP (Energy Communication Platform) and EDX (ENTSO-E Data Exchange), as a service and provides specialists on the platform, along with 24/7/365 operation and monitoring of the message flow.
Support services in the Nordic region and Europe are important for maintaining the stability of the power grid and ensuring a frequency of 50 Hz, especially as the share of renewable energy increases and traditional energy sources decrease.
The frequency of the power grid is continuously monitored to detect deviations and activate support services to restore balance. When support services are activated, messages between the relevant parties are managed via the communication platform ECCo SP.
ECCo SP is available in Tietoevry's service BIX Energy Information eXchange (EIX) and is offered as a service to all market participants.
EIX is used to create a secure infrastructure for data exchange, catering to all the needs of a participant in the energy market, including TSO's support services.
