In version 4.0.0-beta, we are introducing significant updates to the i3 platform. However, this is not a complete major release; only the initial portion of planned features is being delivered. This first portion includes crucial dependency upgrades, such as:

• Java upgrade to version 17
• Elasticsearch upgrade to its latest version 8.13.2
• Lucene upgrade to version 9.10.0

Lucence update means that Opensearch and Solr i3-extras plugins might not work correctly until later in the development cycle.

Improvements

• i3 Connect, Index, Process, Search, SEP are now running on Java 17
• i3 Index, Process, Search, SEP 3 are now using Elasticsearch version 8.13.2

• We dropped support for old SEP v2. It will still exist in versions 3.x.
