Celebrating Pride is about living our values
For Tietoevry, participating in Pride is about staying true to who we want to be as a company.
As the Pride Month begins, we take time to reflect on what this celebration really means to us at Tietoevry. For us as leaders, supporting Pride is ultimately about staying true to our company values – openness, trust and diversity.
In a time where these values are being challenged in many places, including in the corporate world, affirming this commitment feels more important than ever.
Unfortunately, the need for Pride is still very real. According to the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, almost one in five LGBTQIA+ people have experienced discrimination at work. In some countries, that number is even higher. These are not distant issues – they speak directly to why we must keep working to create workplaces where everyone feels safe, respected and valued.
Why diversity and values matter to our people
At Tietoevry, embracing diversity is about doing what’s right. It’s about living our values in the choices we make and the culture we build. And it’s about making sure that everyone can be themselves at work.
To truly be yourself, you need psychological safety. That means being able to talk openly about your life and experiences, knowing you’ll be met with respect. And this isn’t just theory – it’s about everyday moments. Just as we refer to our wife or husband in casual conversation without thinking twice, we want our LGBTQIA+ colleagues to feel like they can do the same without being scared of how people might react.
For many of our colleagues, Tietoevry’s work on being as inclusive as possible is one of the reasons they choose to work here. And diversity is not just a buzzword; our global employee survey shows that a clear majority feel their everyday experience reflects our commitment to diversity.

Turning values into action
Diversity doesn’t happen by accident, but also equity, inclusion and belonging matter. If diversity is just an tick in the box type of exercise, it doesn't make people feel better at work. It’s the result of consistent, concrete efforts to turn our values into everyday reality. Because Pride is about more than rainbow flags in June. It’s about the work we do all year round to build an inclusive culture.
Some of the steps we’ve taken include:
- Inclusive recruitment practices, including gender-neutral language in job ads and marking them as m/f/d (male/female/diverse)
- DEI training for hiring managers and recruiters
- Establishing Pride-related employee resource groups across several offices
- Updating our long-term gender balance target to 49/49, recognizing that gender is not binary, and that inclusion must go beyond the traditional categories
We don’t do this because we think it’s good for business, although we truly believe that diverse teams make better decisions. We do it because it’s the right thing to do. Because everyone deserves to feel safe and seen. And because our values should mean something – especially when it matters the most.
Happy Pride!
